Etna Film Commission, founded in 2005, has recently been joined to the Etna Convention Bureau reality. The main purpose of Etna Film Commission is the development of local competitiveness through the promotion of the province of Catania and the valorization of its cultural, scenic and tourist potential. The organization is aimed at professionals and audiovisual production companies, offering resources and local services in terms of integrated system offer.

 Etna Film Commission as Etna Convention Bureau follows also a rigorous methodological approach guaranteed by high quality standards. Catania has a long tradition and a natural inclination towards cinema. The first local film production companies date from the early twentieth century, also the city and its province has been chosen as a location for movie sets for more than 200 films until now.

The Etna Film Commission office is located in a strategic position within the Fairs and Convention Center The chimneys of Catania, the heart of the market events and fulcrum of the business tourism. Within the chimneys there is also the Museum of Cinema, one of a few successful examples in the national context, the museum was designed by François Confino , the same architect who designed the National Museum of Cinema in The Mole Antonelliana in Turin. The Museum of Cinema is a privileged instrument of support for Etna Film Commission, since it offers to the public documents concerning art of cinematography, its techniques and its history, with particular regard to the relationship between Cinema and Sicily.
